To develop effective and essential leadership skills in students through comprehensive leadership education and diverse experiences.

We were presenting SLP to a new school whose principal wanted to pilot the curriculum. As were entered the school building a huge fight broke out as students were leaving to go on the bus. We stood there in our Student Leadership Program polo’s as two students were wrestled to the ground by police officers and knew that we could make a difference at this school.

We presented the concept to the faculty at their meeting that day. A teacher in the front sat and nodded his head up and down during our presentation. At the end of our talk, we asked to see if anyone had questions or comments. Either the school faculty thought this would not work or they sincerely hoped we could make a difference. This teacher who had been nodding his head during the presentation raised his hand and was recognized. What he said stated everything about our program. This was his comment:

“My son signed up for SLP five weeks ago. Last year at this time he had six referrals and was always in trouble. This year, he has not had a referral and shows us with pride his credential and his passbook each week. This has made a big difference in our son’s life and his relationships at school, family and in his community.”

The teachers all voted to start SLP the next week in their school. We could not have said it better ourselves!
